TUITION AND POLICIES 2016-2017

  • Tuition is calculated by the amount of dance hours per week and charged on a monthly basis.
  • Tuition is due and payable the 1st day of the month.
  • Auto-pay by credit cardor bank draft required. A form is required to be filled out
  • See Office Administrator for exceptions to auto-pay.
  • There is a $25.00 fee for checks returned due to insufficient funds.
  • Late fee of $15 after 10th of month.
  • There are no refunds except for extended illness or injury confirmed by a doctor's note.
  • Tuition may not be carried over to the following months
  • Sorry, no discount for siblings on tuition; however, there is an individual and family maximum amount.
  • Tuition is based on 4 classes per month on any given day; however, on occasion there may be, for example, 3 Mondays one month and 5 the following.


ANNUAL REGISTRATION

  • Academy year begins the day after Labor Day.
  • New students: $35
  • Returning students: $25 
  • One fee per family
  • Temporary drops or extended absences for more than 2 months per year are applied a $35 re-registration fee



TUITION SCHEDULE


  • Trial Class or Drop-in: $18 per hour or $20 for 1.5 hours
  • Adult Class Card (10 classes, no expiry): $135
  • ​Individual Maximum $395
  • Family Maximum $520

























LET US KNOW

  • If you are dropping classes, you must notify the Office Administrator a minimum of 2 weeks before you drop to avoid being charged for the next month. Remember tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE, so be pro-active.



BOYS TUITION ONLY / SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

  • Boys under 10 years old (on registration day): 1 hour free, ½ price everything additional
  • Boys over 10 years old: 2 hours free, ½ price for everything additional
  • Pas de Deux class always free and required once skill level attained.


MAKE-UPS

  • When there is an absence, notify SCBA of the absence prior to or no later than the day of the lesson.
  • Make-ups are for absence due to illness, injury, educational functions and family scheduling conflicts.
  • On Make-up day, pick up the Make-up slip from the front desk and give to the teacher.
  • Make-ups are valid for 6 weeks from the date of the missed class.
  • Make-ups expire at the end of the Academy year
  • Make up classes may not be used to pay tuition for classes.
  • Make-ups may only be used for appropriate level classes. Please see your child's teacher or ask at the desk to determine which classes are appropriate for your child to make up in.
  • Students may accrue no more than 5 make-up classes per calendar quarter, Jan-Mar, April-June, July-Sept, Oct-Dec.



OTHER PERFORMANCES, ACTIVITIES, FEES, EXPENSES

New Season Family Gathering

  • Saturday, September 17, 2016.
  • Organized by fundraising committee to welcome new parents; introduce board, staff and teachers; review the upcoming season and events; highlight volunteer opportunities; and socialize in a relaxed environment.
  • Takes place at Rancho Bernardo Community Center.
  • Spaghetti dinner sponsored by the Olive Garden Italian Kitchen.
  • Nominal attendance charge.


The Nutcracker Audition

  • Saturday, September 24, 2016.
  • Participation fee is $200 for the first child, $130 for additional children in the family.
  • $40 for Butterflies (5 or 6 year olds).
  • Students are typically older than 7 years and minimally in Cecchetti Grade 2.
  • Participation fee covers all rehearsals and costume rental.
  • Students provide own undergarments, make-up.
  • Final dress rehearsal and performances take place at the Poway Performing Arts Center.
  • Outreach performances: Thursday & Friday, Dec. 8 & 9 at 9:15am and 11:15am.
  • Public Performances: Saturday, Dec 10 at 1:00pm and 7:00pm and Sunday, Dec. 11 at 1:00pm.
  • Tickets range from $16 to $38 (box office processing fee is $3 in person or $5 on-line).
  • Heavy volunteer commitment needed in all production, planning and marketing areas.


Spring Performance

  • March 25, 2017
  • Company and older academy dancers by invitation.
  • $75 Participation fee.
  • Tickets range from $16 to $38 (box office processing fee is $3 in person or $5 on-line).
  • Volunteer commitment needed in all production, planning and marketing areas.
  • Pre-performance activity for younger dancers.


Cecchetti Exams

  • Usually take place end of May or beginning of June.
  • Exam Fee varies from $45 to $135 depending on type of exam (Standard vs. Grade and level).
  • Private lessons begin in February and are necessary to thoroughly prepare students in Grades 2 and older ($45 per 30 minutes).
  • Exams take place at the studio, are scheduled during the school day and usually last an hour or more depending o on grade.


Academy September Performance

  • Participation Fee $75.
  • Costume Fee $75 per costume which is purchased for the dancer to keep.
  • Tickets vary from $11-$18 (box office processing fee is $3 in person or $5 on-line).
  • Volunteers needed for dressing rooms on day of performance.



Outreach Performances

  • Penasquitos Festival, May 2017, 3 or 4 small class choreographies.
  • Rancho Bernardo Alive, June 2017, 3 or 4 small class choreographies.
  • Others as approved by Outreach Committee and Artistic Dept.


Dance Clothing

  • See web-site for required class uniform and where to purchase.
  • Ballet: Leotards, Tights, Hair Supplies for buns, Ballet Slippers, Pointe Shoes
  • Character: Character Skirt, Character Shoes
  • Jazz: Leotards, Tights, Jazz Shoes

  • Hip-hop: T-shirt, sweat pants, clean running shoes
